    Description

**I have new 2022 Promaster 3500 EXTs in stock and ready to build on NOW. Next Available pickup date is 8/20/2022**

My mission at Vansion is to build the highest quality camper vans specifically for skiers and full-time, four-season nomads. This is not an RV. This is what you buy when you sell your house, light out for the open road, and never want to set foot in an RV park. Propane, shore power, and black water tanks are now obsolete. Please visit vansion.life for more information, photos, and videos.

    2022 Ram Promaster 3500 EXT

    • 159” Wheel Base, 250.5” outer length
    • Rear back-up camera
    • Bluetooth
    • Cruise control
    • Trailer Hitch
    • 3” lift (The standard low clearance of Promasters is a problem if you want to go anywhere interesting without destroying your gray tank.)
    • New 245/74/R16 Michelin Agilis Cross Climate tires (these along with the Promaster's extra wide wheel base give excellent control in all conditions)
    • New Sumo Springs
    • Available payload after upfit is 1150 lbs (same as an F-150)

    Electrical

    • 1080W solar array
    • 6000W Inverter (you can run the hot water, electric heating, and your hair dryer while baking a turkey)
    • Victron Charge Controller
    • 800 Ah lithium ion battery bank (400 Ah relative to 24V) with state of charge display
    • Six-zone dimmable lighting
    • Four 120V AC outlets
    • 4 USB ports
    • This van is smart. It cuts nonessential loads (heating/stove/water heater) when the battery bank's state of charge drops below 15%, which protects the essential loads (refrigerator, bed outlets for cell phones and medical devices, lights, fans)

    Appliances

    • 13,500 BTU Dometic Brisk II Air Conditioner
    • Vitrifrigo (top of the line Italian brand) 4.2 Cu. Ft DC Fridge (It is important to understand the advantage of a DC fridge: it doesn't require you to have your inverter on all the time, which drains your batteries whether you're using it or not!)
    • Thermostat-regulated electric heating (no dangerous fumes or emissions from burning fossil fuels in a confined space.)
    • Starlink dish for high-speed internet connectivity everywhere
    • 2 Burner electric cooktop

    Plumbing

    • Nature's Head Composting toilet
    • 46-gallon fresh water tank
    • 15-gallon steel-encased gray water tank
    • 4-gallon hot water heater (the water comes out as hot as you want it)
    • Fixed shower with 4 solid walls, shower fan, and a glass door (consider the logistics of using the restroom on a cold rainy day while your partner is still lying peacefully in bed... yeah, you want that door.)
    • Reverse osmosis tap
    • Liquid soap dispenser

    Insulation

    • 200+lbs of 100% Pure Wool insulation throughout
    • 200+ ft^2 of sound deadening mats (This van is quiet, really quiet.
    • Bulkhead and entry walls (These are not just decorative. You will understand the advantage of the bulkhead when you walk into the cab and feel a 40 degree temperature difference. Every piece of exposed metal is a thermal bridge, so I got rid of all of them. Other builders will claim high R values in the walls, but that won't do you much good if all your heat goes out the front and back of the vehicle! That's like walking out in a blizzard in shorts and an unzipped jacket. It doesn't really matter how good the jacket is if you don't use it right.)

    Woodworking

Beware! Most types of wood do not do well in wet conditions (van interiors get exposed to more water than you may realize). I therefore choose only the woods that are rated as “very durable” in terms of moisture resistance: white oak, walnut, and eastern red cedar.

    • Hand-made eastern red cedar closet and drawer bottoms (yes, it smells wonderful)
    • Hand-made walnut and white oak cabinetry and trim
    • Hand-made butcher block countertops and retractable table
    • Hand made white oak shower floor
    • Cabinet grade birch plywood walls
    • No formaldehyde-leaching particle board, no VOC-offgassing lacquer, no asthma-causing polyurethane fumes. The solid wood is finished with pure tung and orange oil. This is a slow and expensive way to go, but my team wants to apply toxic chemicals about as much as you want to live with them.

    Additional features

    • Ceiling is 72.25” minimum
    • 5-inch memory foam short queen mattress included (new in plastic)
    • Custom stainless steel shower pan
    • Queen Bed platform is 75” long
    • Sliding bike/storage tray on 500lb slides
    • Two benches for seating around table
    • Three screened windows plus AC ventilation system. The bunk windows invites a cross breeze over the bed platform while the inner entry window allows you to open the outer sliding door and enjoy fresh air without the bugs!

    Optional Add-ons

    • 10’ Thule Awning
    • 3500W Alternator Charger (The solar array is sufficient for 4-5 days in extreme weather conditions, but the alternator is a game changer as a backup power supply for extended travel. This build requires no propane and no shore power.)
    • 100% heated and insulated water lines
    • Side Ladder
    • Runner Boards
    • Swing out bike rack on tow hitch
    • Ski rack
    • Minor interior customizations
    • I can carve anything anywhere in your van.

Building a van that doesn’t look like a house is easy. The trick is to build a house that doesn’t look like a van. These builds have inner stealth. You will forget you’re in a vehicle.
