“Big Bertha” is a beautifully converted camper with ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING needed to go off grid for an extended trip or full time living situation.
This van features a high top roof allowing the occupants the ability to stand up when inside, a “full sized” memory foam mattress has been slightly trimmed to fit snuggly atop a custom built slated platform for proper ventilation. The bed is big enough for two shorter people or one tall person comfortably.
below the bed platform is a slide-out dinette table that folds and locks into place for the option of a small or large work space or eating area. The two benches face each other with additional storage underneath.
the kitchen area has a sink with HOT AND COLD running water from a 12 volt pump and a 30 gallon water tank tucked under the bed, the sink drains into an easy to empty 7.5 gallon grey water tank below the sink, the drain has a “p-trap” to prevent smalls from coming out of the grey water tank. The kitchen also features a propane stove/oven combo that is very efficient and works fantastic. The refrigerator is a 12 volt/120volt chest style that is on heavy duty slides and tucks away under the counter when not needed. This build has ample amounts of storage while still maintaining an open space concept. The walls and ceiling are very well insulated and cladded with a beautiful Baltic Birch plywood which is very strong, yet light.
the van has 3 100w solar panels from “HQST”
The solar charge controller is a 30 amp from “EPEVER”
There are two 100 amp hour “RENOGY” AGM batteries
A 1000 watt inverter/charger from “RENOGY” that provides the 120v for the regular house style outlets and will also charge the batteries when plugged into shore power.
There is also a bank of 4 usb outlets conveniently placed near the bed and the work space.
The 6 LED lights are on a dimmer switch.
There is a smoke/carbon monoxide alarm for additional safety and peace of mind.
A diesel heater is installed for comfortably living in very cold climates
A “fan-tastic” vent fan that is multi directional and multi speed and a second roof vent keeps air circulating very nicely.
this is a very simple yet robust electrical system that is more that enough for even above average use with a total of 5 standard 120v outlets for any conventional household items like an instant pot
There is even a hidden cassette style toilet that is brand new .
she also has a propane instant water heater that provides hot water to the sink and the OUTDOOR SHOWER!
The water heater is securely mounted on the rack that is attached to the tow hitch for safety (a propane water heater should never be used indoors) the rack comes with the van and is a great place to keep extra items!
The van itself is a beautiful vintage 1987 ford econoline that glides down the road with ease. She used to be a handicap transport vehicle which is why it has such low miles, it has two gas tanks and one was just recently replaced. I have also recently had the fan clutch replaced, carburetor replaced, the a/c blower motor replaced, the a/c refrigerant updated/converted to r134 and a full tuneup with spark plugs, oil change air filter et cetera... other than a small oil leak she runs fantastic and just passed emissions.
There is also a 32 inch sound bar and wireless sub in the cab that runs off of the house battery power and sounds amazing.
This van is absolutely stunning and turns heads wherever we go, it was such a labor of love and it breaks my heart to let her go but my currant financial situation requires me to sell.
there is so many details about the van and conversion that would never fit in this post but I would love to answer any questions or talk more about her.. (I can go on and on..)
