We’re making the transition to more time on the boat and letting go of our Sprinter. It’s been a fabulous home on the road and has made 5 round trips to Alaska and even more to the Rocky Mountains.
I purposely built it out low tech to keep it affordable and less prone to breakdown. The water system is two 5 gal jugs connected to a foot pump. The sink drains strait out. Two burner cook top with a 20 lb propane tank. I put in a external 120volt plug for an extension cord and one duplex plug inside. That was enough for us to run a electric heater or a small fridge/freezer.
The van has the v6 diesel and pulls great, we regularly pulled a cargo trailer with us.
Mileage is just shy of 118,000 thousand, oil changes have been every 10k based on MB recommendations with Mobil 1 synthetic.
Layout is open enough for hauling 4’x8’
sheet goods, bicycles, amazingly large shop tools, etc. If you wanted to add a diesel heater or solar/ house electric system it would be very easy.
